TEAM AUCKLAND MASTER SWIMMERS (TAMS)

‘TAMS’ is a member of New Zealand Master Swimming Inc. We are a group of gay and lesbian swimmers interested in improving our level of fitness, meeting people in a relaxed environment and having a lot of fun in the process. Master swimming is about doing the best you can and setting personal goals. You will find a lot of encouragement and support from the other members of the team whether you want to have a hard work-out or just want to relax and unwind.

A little history…

‘TAMS’ had it’s origins in September 1991 when approximately six keen swimmers started meeting at the Tepid Baths on Saturday mornings for an informal training session and a social get together. One of these swimmers had been inspired to form a club when he attended the 1990 Gay Games in Vancouver. Since then ‘TAMS’ has been represented at each subsequent Gay Games, many International Gay Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA) events and the inaugural Out Games in Montreal in 2006. In New Zealand we frequently compete at Masters pool meets and in ocean swims.

Our annual membership fee is $60.00

It includes membership to Team Auckland Master Swimmers, New Zealand Master Swimming Inc and International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics(IGLA). We have a quarterly newsletter which lists upcoming swim meets, social events and team news. We aim to provide fun and safe swimming.
